Learn about how Behavior Analysis can be applied to help us better understand and analyze dog behavior!

What: Our courses are fully remote and combine lecture, discussion, videos, and interactive activities. Each course is limited to 8 participants and take place for 1 hour and 45 minutes each session across 5 weeks.

Investment: Enrollment is $395 per course. All spots are participant spots; we do not have auditor spots in our courses. We offer a limited number of spots with low-cost options for each course, as well as 1 free spot for a BIPOC participant in each cohort.

Continuing Education Units: CEUs are available at no extra cost for the BACB and through IAABC.

  • Verbal behavior is much more than using words, and goes far beyond using buttons to communicate! Join us to learn about what verbal behavior really is, whether and how your dog is already using it, and how to help expand their repertoire - and yours! - to strengthen your relationship and understanding of each other.

Punishment and its Fallout [Pilot Course]

  • Even if you plan to never use punishment with your dog, your dog might have experienced punishment in the past, or you might be inadvertently punishing some behavior now. Join us to learn what punishment really is, what the side effects are, and how to mitigate the fallout of punishment.

    *Note: this is not a course to teach how to implement punishment, but to better understand and plan for the effects you may already be encountering.

If Dogs Could Talk: Skinner’s analysis of verbal behavior and what it means for your dog

  • If you work in dog behavior, you are familiar with the quadrants. This course will take you beyond those basics, into a deeper understanding of motivating operations, stimulus control, and techniques and procedures to increase desired behaviors.

What’s the Function? Why dogs do what they do [Pilot Course]

  • This course, designed for dog owners who want to know more, offers an introduction to dog behavior from a behavior analytic perspective. Behavior analysis looks at behavior through a single-subject lens, focusing on the individual and their unique interactions with their environment. This course will give an overview of the principles of behavior, what we are talking about when we talk about the “function” of a behavior, and why it’s essential to consider the function when we are looking to change behavior.
