A 2-part, interactive training for anyone who works with people - which is most people who work with dogs.

This training is hosted by The Dog Behavior Institute, but will be conducted by invited speaker Dr. August Stockwell, a neurodiversity educator and consultant with a passion for disability justice and accessible mental health supports.

Have you ever wondered how to make both remote and in-person services more affirming, comfortable, and impactful for Autistic and other neurodivergent clients? This training will present a neurodiversity-affirming approach to understanding client experience and center the perspectives of neurodivergent people.

This training includes:

  • concrete strategies to use when working with neurodivergent clients. 

  • Impacts of power differences and neurotypical privilege on interactions with clients

  • diagnostic and identity-based language considerations, 

  • ways to accommodate differences in communication needs

  • Consideration of how these strategies apply to each attendee’s professional and personal interactions with others.

August Stockwell, PhD (they/them pronouns) has14 years of experience educating current and future helping professionals on a variety of topics related to culturally-sensitive clinical practice.

As a neurodivergent, queer, and non-binary human, August presents from a community member perspective, as well as from a researcher and educator perspective.
